Our pure linen, cotton, and recycled fabrics exhibit natural beauty and durability, yet they are not completely resistant to wear. Not every textile is suitable for spot-cleaning, and certain materials can be more susceptible to fading.

While many fabrics do a good job resisting spills, fading, and spot-cleaning, we intentionally refrain from applying harsh chemicals that are necessary for "performance" classification. The key takeaway? Like all materials sourced from nature, our fabrics have limits, and mindful care can be invaluable.

2. Care Instructions
Spills can happen from time to time—and, honestly, they are often more likely when children are involved.

We highly recommend dry cleaning all natural fabrics. Pigment-dyed linens—Washed Cotton Linen, Light Weight Linen, and Medium Weight Linen—are particularly vulnerable to fading and discoloration when they become wet. Generally, they do not respond well to spot-cleaning.

For slipcovers that can handle (gentle) spot cleaning, opt for piece-dyed textiles like Cotton Linen, Washed Cotton Velvet, or Thread-Dyed Cotton Linen.

Prefer to avoid dry cleaning? Our cherished plush fabric, the ultra-soft Recycled Faux Fur, is machine-washable and responds delightfully to spot cleaning. Additionally, it has a silky, playful nap that consistently charms children.

For the best versatility, think about Recycled Poly Weave. It makes spot cleaning straightforward, can withstand machine washing, and is suitable for dry cleaning when more thorough cleaning is necessary.

Always review care instructions prior to cleaning any material. Spot cleaning methods can greatly differ between fabrics.

3. Fabric Color
With energetic kids, opting for darker fabrics may seem practical for hiding everyday dirt. However, choosing the right color is about more than just concealing stains.

Darker materials tend to fade more quickly in sunlight and through washing. This aspect is crucial for bright nurseries or frequently laundered slipcovers.

All fabrics will fade over time (remember that we avoid unnecessary chemical coatings). Nevertheless, natural, gradual fading can be more pronounced on bold, highly pigmented shades.

Consider the color white. Seriously! White and off-white slipcovers like Pacific Pearl (Cotton Linen) and Water Lily (Light Weight Linen) work well with spot cleaning using non-brightening enzymatic detergent.

If you desire vibrant colors but are concerned about stains, take a look at our Thread-Dyed Cotton Linen. We infuse each fiber with intense pigment before weaving it, ensuring outstanding colorfastness in every garden-inspired shade.

4. Fabric Weight
Durability includes all fabric qualities, not solely weight. However, heavier, structured materials certainly endure jumping, kicking, and racing toys more effectively.

Don’t worry about giving up softness for durability: premium natural fibers often become softer and stronger with use.

Our heavier fabrics (400-600 g/m² - weights listed on our swatch page) include Medium Weight Linen at 550 g/m², which breaks in beautifully. Light Weight Linen and Cotton Canvas are lighter yet similarly tough. Recycled Poly Weave, our heaviest at 580 g/m², provides excellent durability for busy households.
