FAQs
Materials:INSIDE SCOOP: FEATHER DOWN VS. POLY FILL
Q:Do feather down and poly fill feel the same?
Our Feather Down and Poly Fill cushions offer a similar level of comfort and feel. In fact, we’ve engineered our shredded Poly Fill to replicate the luxurious, sink-in experience typically associated with feather-filled cushions. Sometimes, when testing them, even we can’t tell the difference!
If you were to play “Goldilocks” and switch back and forth between the two, you might notice that the Poly Fill has a slightly spongier texture compared to the classic loftiness of Feather Down. However, this difference is very subtle, making both options feel incredibly close in terms of comfort.
Q:Do feather down and poly fill look the same?
Exactly! Out of the box, Feather Down and Poly Fill are nearly identical in appearance, so you don’t need to worry about the visual aesthetics when making your decision. Both options deliver a similar look and feel, allowing you to focus more on the comfort and support that best suits your needs.
Q:Are they constructed the same way?
Q:Do they require different upkeep?
No, both Feather Down and Poly Fill cushions don’t require different upkeep. Since both contain loose filling, their contents naturally shift and mold to your favorite spots over time. To keep them looking fresh and feeling comfortable, regular fluffing is highly recommended. This simple task helps maintain the cushion’s shape and ensures your furniture stays looking its best over the years.
If you’re concerned about the amount of upkeep, it’s worth noting that cushions with more fill, like our puffier collections, will require a bit more attention. These cushions have generous layers of fill on the top and bottom, so while they provide a plush, sink-in feel, they also need a little extra fluffing to keep them looking lofty and perky.
Q:If I opt for feather down, will the feathers poke out or become loose?
Every time you sit on a feather-filled cushion, the air released through the layers causes the fill to shift slightly. Over time, a few rogue feathers may escape, but it won’t be as frequent as you might expect. We take extra care by wrapping the fill in a heavy-duty, anti-poke cotton with a tight weave, specifically designed to prevent feathers from poking through or escaping. This ensures a smoother, more durable cushion experience that keeps your furniture looking neat for longer.
Q:Is your feather down ethically sourced?
Yes, we take great care in how we source our materials. As an almost entirely vertical company, we have the flexibility to choose our vendors carefully. Our distributor only uses non-live-plucked down feathers, sourced as byproducts from the food industry, ensuring that no harm is done to the animals. They are thoroughly audited and inspected by the Feather and Down Association every year, with their certification being renewed annually.
That said, we understand that Feather Down isn’t the right choice for everyone. That’s why we’ve put significant effort into making our Poly Fill as close in feel as possible to the luxurious comfort of Feather Down, ensuring that everyone can enjoy a plush, supportive experience regardless of their choice.
