Materials & Construction

Where are your products made?

Our materials are sourced globally—French flax, Belgian linen, American and Austrian oak, and more. Our designs originate in New York and Paris, while production takes place in our advanced, self-operated factory in China. This supply chain ensures that premium materials are paired with decades of craftsmanship, allowing us to prioritize quality and deliver exceptional value in furniture making.

Which fabrics suit kids and pets?

Your lifestyle determines the best fabric choice. For households with spills, choose spot-cleanable fabrics in fade-resistant colors. If you have pets that scratch, opt for heavyweight, tightly woven textiles. Explore our guides:

  • Choosing fabrics for households with children

  • Pet-friendly fabric selection

While we avoid "performance" labels due to harsh chemical treatments, our fabrics are highly durable and easy to maintain with proper care.

Why is Washed Cotton Linen unavailable for some products?

Our bestselling Washed Cotton Linen is known for its lightweight crispness and natural crimp developed during weaving. This unique texture makes it unsuitable for structured collections like Aria and Olea, where slipcovers need to be tightly anchored with Velcro. Due to its delicate nature and risk of overstretching under constant tension, we recommend it only for freely hanging slipcover designs.

What defines thread-dyed fabric?

Thread-Dyed Cotton Linen is unique in our collection for its dyeing process—each yarn is individually dyed before weaving, unlike fabrics dyed after weaving. This technique results in rich color depth, beautiful variation, and excellent colorfastness. Despite its premium look, it remains easy to care for.

What is Meridian Leather?

Meridian Leather represents luxury redefined—a nubuck leather crafted from full-grain French hides. Drum-dyed for rich color and meticulously hand-sanded, it achieves an irresistibly soft, lived-in texture. Unlike suede (which uses weaker hide layers), this top-tier leather features double-stitched seams for enduring quality. While showcasing natural variations and requiring specific care, it offers a uniquely supple alternative to traditional leathers.

Do you offer performance fabrics?

Not conventionally. Traditional performance fabrics rely on PFAS and endocrine-disrupting chemicals, which we reject due to health and environmental concerns. Instead, Linen World focuses on naturally durable materials. Our Recycled Poly Weave—a virgin-plastic-free, chemical-free alternative—delivers easy-care functionality without compromises.

Feather Down vs. Poly Fill: What’s the difference?

Both fills provide a decadent, sink-in feel with shifting contents that mold to your form. Key distinctions:

  • Feather Down: Blend of ethically sourced feathers/down + vegan poly fiber

  • Poly Fill: 100% vegan poly fiber engineered to mimic Feather Down
Regular fluffing maintains optimal loft for both. Explore our detailed comparison guide.

What does "ethically-sourced" mean for feathers/down?

We ensure strict supply chain oversight. Feathers are non-live-plucked byproducts of the food industry, certified annually by the Feather and Down Association. While Feather Down isn’t universal, our Poly Fill offers a conscientious alternative with comparable comfort.

What’s in your cushions?

Seat cushions:

  • Foam core for structure (excludes Bene dining)

  • Vegan poly fiber base

  • Feather Down: Additional feather/down (9:1 ratio)

  • Poly Fill: Additional vegan poly fiber

Back cushions:

  • Feather Down: 70% feather/down + 30% poly fiber

  • Poly Fill: 100% poly fiber

Density vs. Firmness: What’s the difference?
  • Density: Material mass per unit volume (indicating longevity)

  • Firmness: Pressure needed to compress foam (affecting comfort)
Identical densities can yield different firmness levels.

"Support Layer" vs. "Comfort Layers" in foam?
  • Support Layer: Central high-density foam (firmness 35) ensuring shape stability

  • Comfort Layers: Less firm high-density foam atop the support layer, enhancing softness
Upright/dining pieces may include extra "Firmness Layers" for added structure. Feather Down/Poly Fill contributes overall plushness.

Can I buy separate pillows or cushions?

No. Products adhere to collection templates, so components aren’t sold individually (including Olea’s round cushions). Lumbar cushions come with specific collections (Aria, Elias, Camino, Devyn sectionals); Gabriel includes arm pillows. For replacement cushions, contact hello@linenworld.pro.

What are frames made of?

Frames combine kiln-dried hardwood with plywood reinforcement, fortified by corner blocking. Suspension systems integrate high-tenacity webbing and springs for durability.

Are sectionals modular?

Yes. All sectional components connect via zinc-alligator clip systems underneath, enabling reconfiguration. Ottomans serve as seats or footrests, and sections can be rearranged freely. For individual component orders (final sale), email design@linenworld.pro.

Are sectional ottomans detachable?

Absolutely. The zinc-alligator clip mechanism allows ottomans to be detached/repositioned. See our guide on sectional customization for details.

What are your fabric options beyond standard linen?

CARE

1. What's the best way to clean my slipcover?

Our slipcovers contain no chemical protective coatings, preserving fabric integrity while avoiding harsh substances. This requires attentive care. For fabric-specific instructions, see our slipcover care guide.

Natural Linen/Cotton: Dry cleaning delivers optimal results. Machine washing is possible with cold water and mild detergent, but requires caution.
Recycled Poly Weave: Our easiest-care fabric for low-maintenance cleaning.
Recycled Faux Fur: Gentle cold cycle (agitator-free machines only) with air drying.

Essential tips:

  • Always close zippers before washing

  • Wash slipcover pieces separately to prevent damage

  • Avoid overstuffing machines

  • Vacuum regularly with upholstery attachment

2. How should I pre-treat spills?

Act immediately:

  1. Blot liquids with dry cloth

  2. Scoop solids with spoon
Never rub - this embeds stains deeper

Spot-cleaning suitability varies:
Avoid for: Hand-dyed linens (prone to fading)
Suitable for: Thread Dyed Cotton Linen, Recycled Faux Fur
Refer to our stain treatment guide for details

3. How do I maintain my slipcover's appearance?

Steam: Relax wrinkles post-delivery or washing

Adjust: Tuck skirts, smooth seams, and fluff cushions regularly
Slipcovers naturally shift and wrinkle with use - this embodies their relaxed charm. Learn maintenance techniques in our slipcover care post.

5. How do I prevent sun fading?

While our fabrics meet colorfastness standards, all materials fade over time. Since we use no UV-protective chemicals:

  • Avoid direct sunlight

  • Position away from heat sources

  • Rotate cushions quarterly
Darker hues fade faster. See our color preservation tips.

4.What's proper cushion care?

Embrace natural slouching - it reflects lived-in comfort. Maintain loft by:

  • Fluffing cushions weekly

  • Rotating positions monthly
This ensures even wear and preserves shape.

7. Meridian Leather care instructions

Maintenance:

  • Brush weekly with nubuck-specific brush (5 minutes both directions)
    Stain removal:

  1. Blot liquids immediately

  2. Use brass-bristle brush for ground-in dirt
    Avoid:

6. Is wash fading normal?

Yes. We pre-wash fabrics, but natural linens/cottons (especially pigment-dyed varieties) may show subtle fading after first wash. Dark fabrics might release excess dye initially - similar to quality denim. This stabilizes with subsequent washes.

9. Galata Travertine maintenance

Daily care:

  • Wipe with damp cloth

  • Use soft brush for crevices
    Stain prevention:

  • Blot spills instantly

  • Use mild soap for tough stains

  • Always use coasters - especially with acidic substances
Avoid abrasive cleaners that damage stone.

8. Wood table preservation

Protect:

  • Always use coasters/trivets

  • Lift heavy objects - don't drag
    Cleaning:

  • Dust with dry cloth

  • Wipe spills immediately

  • Clean entire surface with damp cloth (never spot-clean)
Natural finishes develop character over time.

10. Furniture storage guidelines
Store in climate-controlled spaces:
  1. Keep in original packaging (inspect for damage within 5 days of delivery)

  2. Position upright (follow box arrows)

  3. Stack same-size boxes only

  4. Avoid sunlight, humidity, and temperature extremes
